Recently, the Provincial Science and Technology Department decided to launch the first batch of “Green Lighting Demonstration City†special action pilot projects in Guangzhou City, Chancheng District of Foshan City and Xiaolan Town of Zhongshan City. This is another measure for the province to increase the promotion and application of LED lighting products, accelerate the development of the LED industry, and explore new models and new paths for the development of strategic emerging industries. Xiaolan Town will receive a grant of 2.5 million yuan from the second batch of major science and technology projects in Guangdong Province.
At present, Xiaolan Town LED enterprises mainly focus on indoor LED lamps, LED street lamps, tunnel lights, decorative and landscape lighting, LED power controllers and packages. In 2009, LED lighting and related supporting industries realized an output value of about 2 billion yuan. A number of energy-saving lamp manufacturers have gradually entered the development of LED lighting industry. In 2010, Xiaolan Town was recognized by the Provincial Science and Technology Department as “Guangdong Province Semiconductor Lighting International Technology Cooperation Base†and “Guangdong Province Green Lighting Demonstration Townâ€.
Relying on the foundation and advantages of the new light source high-tech application base in Guangdong Province, the town actively participated in the demonstration project of “Zhongshan Urban and Rural Integrated LED Street Lighting Project†and the “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities†organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The town promotes the research and development of key and common technologies in the LED semiconductor lighting industry, establishes corporate financing channels, and fosters and expands the emerging industries of LED semiconductor lighting. In the next three years, the town plans to continue to replace more than 26,000 street lamps in the town through EMC energy management mode, and comprehensively build a demonstration project for urban-level LED lighting products.
