Analysis of the differences and similarities of the three access control technologies

As the heavyweight sub-forum of the "ICT China 2018 High-level Forum" at the China International Information and Communication Exhibition in 2018, the 3rd 5G Innovation and Development Summit Forum recently released heavy news about the three-phase 5G test. Director Wen Ku of the Information and Communication Development Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology pointed out: "The third stage of 5G technology research and development trials will be a key step before 5G realizes the '18-year-old adult'", which shows the importance of the third stage test results. Xu Fei, the leader of the 5G test working group of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, reported on the progress of the test and the working group submitted a satisfactory "answer sheet" for the third phase of the test.

my country's 5G completes the third phase of testing, one step closer to 5G commercial use

The 5G testing process is advancing steadily

With the announcement of the third-phase test results in 2018, the 5G third-phase work plan ushered in a new milestone. Reviewing the content of the third stage indoor test, Xu Fei said that it mainly tests the basic functions of the physical layer, the basic functions of the RRC protocol, physical channels, link adaptation and scheduling, multi-antenna technology, radio frequency testing, EN-DC dual connection testing, CU- DU separation architecture, NSA core network test.

The completion of the third phase of NSA testing is impressive. Huawei, ZTE, and China Xinke completed the NSA3.5/4.9GHz frequency band test content; Nokia Bell and Ericsson completed most of the test content; Samsung started the test. The NSA indoor test base station function is also a bright spot. Various system equipment vendors have developed 3.5/4.9GHz pre-commercial/commercial 5G base stations for eMBB macro coverage scenarios; each system uses self-developed test terminals to complete third-party terminal simulators and supports NSA-based base station function tests. The overall test results are good. In addition, in the NSA indoor test base station radio frequency (conducted) and radio frequency (OTA), the test results meet the requirements of the test specifications and the index values specified by the industry authorities, and all data meet the requirements of the test specifications.

At present, the NSA is progressing rapidly, the outdoor test has been basically completed, and the transmission capacity has been repeatedly improved. From the results of this round of testing, the peak downlink rate of a single cell of most systems exceeds 4Gbps@ 100MHz, and the highest exceeds 10Gbps. The moving average downlink throughput of a single terminal is about 350Mbps, and the average uplink throughput is about 80Mbps.

Xu Fei concluded that the third stage of 5G technology research and development trials is progressing in an all-round and orderly manner. In the next step, we will continue to accelerate the development and optimization of system equipment, chips, terminals, and meters, and comprehensively carry out interoperability tests between systems and chip terminals.

The entire industry chain is actively deploying 5G

Currently, the overall deployment of the 5G industry is the general trend. Whether it is operators, equipment vendors or terminal manufacturers, they are all actively taking the lead in developing the early stage layout.

At present, Chinese operators are actively promoting the commercialization of 5G and have determined detailed implementation plans. China Telecom will conduct 5G commercial trials in 12 cities across the country this year. According to China Telecom's plan, large-scale and pre-commercial trials will be carried out from the second half of 2018 to 2019, and network deployment in key areas will be completed from 2019 to 2020. China Mobile stated that it will also launch 5G scale tests in 17 cities in 2018 and expects to launch 5G services in 2020. China Unicom announced that it will speed up research on 5G key technologies and lay out a strategic plan for 5G network evolution to meet its 5G network commercial goals in 2020.

my country's major telecommunications equipment vendors already have a leading edge. Huawei previously released the world's first 5G core network solution SOC2.0 for 5G commercial scenarios. Subsequently, the industry's first 5G bearer fragmentation router was released, which can provide up to 100GE base station access capabilities. ZTE has released a full range of high and low frequency pre-commercial base station products for 5G, which fully meets the diverse scenarios and requirements of 5G pre-commercial deployment, with large working bandwidth and a single-site data throughput of up to 10Gbps; at the same time, it has cooperated with Intel and released 5G's next-generation IT baseband products.

And terminal manufacturers are also accelerating the pace of technology research and development. As currently the world's third largest mobile phone market and the number one in China's mobile phone market, Huawei is expected to launch Kirin chips and smart phones in 2019. OPPO attaches great importance to the research and formulation of 5G standards and is one of the main promoters of domestic 5G standards. ViVo announced that it will launch 5G pre-commercial terminals in 2019, and in 2020, 5G smart phones will be officially commercialized.

my country ranks among the first echelon of 5G commercial

In the 5G era, the industry generally believes that my country has successfully led the world in the formulation of 5G bearer standards and the 5G industry chain. "At present, my country's 5G level is in the first echelon in the world, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will speed up 5G technology testing and 5G frequency use, and start 5G commercial work as soon as possible." Chen Zhaoxiong, deputy minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, previously stated publicly.

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will accelerate 5G deployment and all-optical network construction to improve the core competitiveness of the digital economy. According to the plan, my country will realize 5G commercial use in 2020. In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will accelerate the deployment of 5G and the construction of all-optical networks, vigorously develop the construction of industrial Internet networks and platforms, and promote the formation of a network space of "interconnection of all things, human-computer interaction, and integration of world and earth". The Minister of Industry and Information Technology Miao Wei said, “Strengthen the integration of the digital economy and the real economy to help achieve high-quality economic development. Accelerate the process of digital industrialization, tap the industrialization potential of data resources, rely on information technology to drive new kinetic energy, and use new kinetic energy to promote new development. "

With the gradual improvement of 5G international standards and the launch of domestic 5G large-scale trials, the domestic 5G industry is accelerating toward maturity. It is expected that the three major operators will launch 5G pre-commercial and 5G large-scale commercial use in 2019 and 2020, respectively. According to CICC's forecast, as Chinese operators enter 5G trial commercial use, it is expected that China's telecommunications industry capital expenditure will enter an upward cycle in 2019.

According to the forecast of the GSMA report, by 2025, 5G networks will be commercially available in 111 countries and regions around the world. Among them, China's 5G coverage rate will reach 25%, and together with the United States and Japan, it will become the world's top three 5G countries. By then, four economies including China, the United States, Japan and Europe will occupy 70% of the global 5G market, with more than 900 million users.

According to a research report issued by Essence Securities, from the perspective of the investment in the industry chain and the right to speak in the communications industry, China and the United States have already shown a clear trend of "decreasing and increasing" during the 4G period. The influence of the United States on the development of global telecommunications is declining. In China, whether it is standard technology, commercial maturity, market application, etc., it has achieved "2G start, 3G catch-up, and 4G synchronization" and will achieve "5G surpassing."
