Cirrus Logic, the preferred manufacturer of high-performance analog and mixed-signal components, has held a press conference today, announcing the launch of digital LED controllers and officially entering the emerging high-growth LED lighting market. David Biven, director of marketing at Cirrus Logic's EXL division, said: "The LED controller can directly solve the dimming compatibility problem and realize the innovation of dimming controller from analog to digital."
LED bulbs have excellent energy efficiency and long life, and use pollution-free materials. They are considered as replacements for incandescent lamps and compact fluorescent lamps, and their large-scale adoption is also the trend. However, there are two major problems with LED products currently on the market – costly and dimming compatibility issues.
Conventional LED dimming controllers generally use analog technology, which has poor dimming compatibility and is easy to cause dimming problems such as flash, no light, no dimming, and limited dimming range. Cirrus Logic's new CS161X series controllers use Cirrus Logic's new digital TruDimTM technology to test on 200 dimmers from around the world, with 42 patents and more than 3 years of R&D experience, enabling flicker-free Deep dimming and multi-lamp dimming. The CS161X series of controllers performed nearly perfect in the entire test, achieving 98% compatibility, compatible with Energy Star, NEMA SSL6, IEC 61000-3-2, with an efficiency of 90% and FP>0.9. The closest LED controller compatibility on the market is 71%, and the average LED controller compatibility is 50%.
