Japanese factory Tokuyama plans to enter the large-size silicon wafer market for LED

[High-tech LED News] According to a Japanese media report, Japan's polysilicon manufacturing leader Tokuyama has developed a large-size monocrystalline silicon wafer for LED substrates, which will formally enter the large-size silicon wafer market for LEDs.

According to the report, the silicon wafer developed by Tokuyama is 6 inches in diameter and twice the size of the current product. The biggest feature is that it can produce more LEDs.

It is understood that Tokuyama will invest about 1 billion yen to set up a test production line, and is expected to start production in mid-2012. As demand for LED materials used for lighting and other applications will continue to expand, Tokuyama plans to increase its LED materials business revenue to 10 billion yen in 2017.
