Nielsen: Nearly 50% of smartphone penetration in the United States

March 30 news, according to technology website BGR reported, market research company Nielsen announced in February the US mobile phone market survey report shows that nearly half of US users have smart phones.

The report shows that 49.7% of U.S. mobile phone users have smart phones, compared to 36% last year. Google Android is still the leading intelligent operating system in the United States, with a market share of 48%; 32.1% of users use the Apple iPhone; RIM's BlackBerry market share is 11.6%.

In addition, 48% of consumers who recently purchased smartphones chose Android devices, 43% purchased iPhones, and only 5% chose BlackBerry smartphones.
