ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ON), which promotes energy-efficient innovation, delivers advanced global shutter imaging performance from the PYTHON CMOS image sensor family to a cost-effective, small footprint design.
The new PYTHON 480 image sensor uses the same pixel design and SVGA (800 x 600 pixel) resolution as the existing PYTHON 500, but is optimized for size (package 85% smaller than existing devices) and power consumption. Large 4.8 μm global shutter pixel and two microlens offset angle options provide high light sensitivity for use in inspection systems (capable of capturing moving objects without dynamic blur during short exposure times) to bar code scanning (required) Large depth of field and small scanning engine) for terminal applications. The new device retains the imaging performance of the CMOS image sensor PYTHON series and supports reading speeds of up to 120 frames per second (fps) via a single channel LVDS or parallel output.

The company now offers PYTHON 480 samples in black and white and Bayer color configurations, in a CSP-67 package that is compliant with the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive, and is scheduled for production in the first quarter of 2017.
