EPC Power Conversion Corporation (EPC) Release of 150 W, 8 Ω class D audio amplifier design reference (EPC9106) using Bridge-Tied-Load (BTL) design, comprising four ground half-bridge power output stage circuit, so that the design can be Upgrade and expand. In this GaN-based field-effect transistor-based system, we minimize or completely remove all elements that affect the sound quality of a Class D audio system.
According to Dr. Skip Taylor, co-founder and former CTO of Intersil's D2 Audio: "The power stage of eGaN FETs accurately replicates Class D Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals with high power and has ultra-high linearity. Because of this high The linearity reduces the amount of feedback required, so you can achieve the best sound quality, providing clear, crisp midrange and high frequency, as well as tight, solid low-frequency sound."
The EPC9106 demo board features EPC2016eGaN FETs and Texas Instruments' gate drivers (LM5113) for eGaN FETs. This demo board demonstrates that high-quality switching performance can be achieved with small size due to the high-frequency switching performance of eGaN FETs. With this high efficiency, the EPC9106 demo board is designed to eliminate heat sinks, reduce opportunities for EMI/EMC emissions, and reduce overall system cost.
EPC9106 demo board power supply module has a field effect transistor comprising a gallium nitride, a driver, an inductor, and input / output capacitance electrodes on a compact layout (2.1 mm x 1.6 mm). The EPC9106 reference design is small in size and achieves 96% efficiency at 150 W and 8 Ω, while achieving 92% efficiency at 250 W and 4 Ω.
The EPC9106 demo board is priced at $1,338 and is immediately available for purchase through North Gold Technologies and Digi-Key.
