Japanese LED manufacturer Toyoda Gosei and Philips-Electronics subsidiary Lumileds Lighting have signed an LED patent that allows both parties to use the parties. Philips Lumileds holds a patent for high-brightness red LEDs and high-power blue LEDs, and Toyoda Gosei holds several patents for blue LEDs. By eliminating their respective patent issues, the agreement will allow Toyoda Gosei and Lumileds to give more freedom in their development.
