High precision and high quality laser processing techniques have become increasingly important to meet the demand for lightweight and high stiffness characteristics, as well as high design flexibility and high productivity in automotive and other industries.
TeraDiode's high-brightness direct diode lasers have a proprietary wavelength beam combining technology and are expected to be the next generation of lasers that meet the needs of these broad industrial markets.
The two parties began a strategic alliance in 2013 to quickly meet such market demand and successfully launched the world's first direct diode laser welding robot system.
In the same year, Panasonic acquired the exclusive right to sell direct diode lasers for welding in major Asian countries from TeraDiode. The two companies have been working closely on product development, manufacturing, sales and service to expand the use of direct diode laser technology worldwide.
Under the agreement, TeraDiode will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Panasonic, and Panasonic will further promote the development of the laser processing business of the two companies by combining TeraDiode's leading-edge direct diode laser technology and proprietary technology with its own technology.
The two companies will further develop direct diode technology and strengthen the laser processing business as Panasonic's new core business in the field of factory solutions, thereby accelerating performance growth.
