Microsoft plans to launch a Windows 10 update called "Creator" next year to enable all Windows 10 PCs to support virtual reality experiences. While HTC Vive and Oculus Rift use their own custom software, Microsoft is trying to create its own VR platform with Windows Holographic, the same environment as the company's HoloLens headset. Microsoft revealed that Windows 10's VR headset starts at $299, and Microsoft today gives the PC configuration requirements needed to support these VR experiences.
In the latest beta version of Windows 10, Microsoft offers a "Windows Holographic First Run" application for testing PC performance to ensure compatibility. Microsoft's minimum requirements are:
